ON THE HOT SEAT: State Attorney General Mark Bennett and OHA Administrator Clyde Namuo take questions on ceded lands

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

Welcome to The Hot Seat. Today were’ dealing with the ceded lands settlement. The state and the Office of Hawaiian Affairs recently reached an agreement to settle the 30-year dispute between the state and OHA over income and proceeds from ceded lands. Under that agreement, the state will give OHA cash and land totaling $200 million to end the dispute that centers on public lands turned over to the U.S. by the Republic of Hawaii in 1898.

Joining us for the next hour will be two key forces behind that agreement: state Attorney General Mark Bennett and OHA Administrator Clyde Namuo. They will answer your questions live for the next hour, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

Since we’ve got them both on deck, when you ask your questions, please let us know if you are directing your question to Mark Bennett or Clyde Namuo, or both.

Thanks folks! Let’s go.
